iTunes updates… what a pain
Opening iTunes yesterday I was prompted to update my current version of iTunes (7.6.0.29) to the very latest version (7.6.1). Considering I don’t have an iPhone or an Apple TV this update is probably completely useless to me since Apple recently has only being updating iTunes just to accommodate different features they keep introducing to the iPhone and Apple TV, but that’s not what gets me with their updates.
What really gets me with iTunes updates is the fact that iTunes these days is 56.4MB. For a program that is only supposed to catalogue your music library and let you transfer and synchronise that library with your iPod, it has just gotten way too big. Don’t get me wrong, I love iTunes, I love that fact that once all your songs have the proper ID3 tags iTunes will be a breeze to use. What gets to me about iTunes is the size and the installation process. With such a large installation file, iTunes takes up to 10 minutes to install and also installs the latest version of the horrible and worthless QuickTime which also decides that it is important enough to start on my computers start up.
They’re here and they’re pretty queer: The new iPod line up
Don’t get me wrong, the new iPod’s are great. You have the new iPod touch, which has a beautiful 3.5″ multi-touch screen just like the one features in the iPhone and then you also have the iPod classic which goes up to a whopping 160Gb and with a price drop too.

- MAC OS X based
- And even maybe a 120Gb hard drive.
